We are all quarantined right now and it is important to take care of ourselves during this stressful period. Everyone is at home but it is good to take a few minutes to yourself. This will allow you to recharge your batteries and be better for the people you are living with. Here I am in the guest room, which has no guests. Loving audiobooks, I sneak away for a bit to enjoy a story and relax. What are some of your self-care strategies?
Every month I am going to give you a list of the things that I purchased from Amazon. These are the things that I use and love. Items purchased, but not liked will not make this list. If you follow every month you will see the things that I am buying over and over. There are always seaweed packets for snacks, the TYLER Glamorous laundry detergent, and the Majestic Pure Himalayan Scrub. The scrub is a must have for my skin. I work out a lot and I love this scrub to keep my pores clear.
I will be reviewing the two cookbooks in upcoming blog posts. So far I have made 5 recipes from Every Grain of Rice by Fuchsia Dunlop, and I know it will be a favorite!
Also, every month I have toilet paper delivered. There is no worry that we will run out of it. It is one worry off my list. A good life hack. What products do you love? Do you use their subscription service? This gives more discounts with more items.
These are a few of my favorite things!!! I Love, love, love these items. Try some out for yourself!
Hello Summer! It’s here, and it’s hot! One of the lasting trends is for basket bags, and nothing is cuter with a summer dress. I love to see one with enough details that it looks like it should be a bag in current times and not a la Little House on the Prairie (Although I loved the show, I try not to look like I am dressing in a period piece – unless I’m at a costume party, but I digress!)
Below see some of the nicest picks out there! There are different details, colors and price points. You are sure to be able to find something to your taste and budget.
What trends are you loving for this summer?
I hope you all had a nice weekend! I enjoyed a low-key on with my family. Lots of times when I go out, I tend to be on the more easygoing side. I want to look nice, but I still very much want to remain comfortable! One way to make this easier is to have some staple pieces that you can rely on. They always look great and are there for you when you need them. The LBD is a must-have, but sometimes it is nice to be a little different. In comes the LBS (Little Black Shorts). The shorts I have featured are from Rag and Bone and have a supple leather trim. The fabric is a quality weight and they are lined. These aren’t everyday shorts, they are dressy and look it!
When building your staple pieces, quality is key. It shows in the way the fabric drapes, the way the fabric wears, and it changes the way you will feel. Often, this quality comes with a price. #Not a sponsored post, but I have used The Real Real with success. It is even eco-friendly reuse! They have pre-owned items that their experts have already verified as authentic. When I pick out an item I look for Excellent to a Pristine condition. You can find items with their tags attached. I found the exact item I own on their site, it is listed in the widget below. The price is a huge percentage less than retail! Additionally, I added a bunch of like items so you can easily find your size.
Along with the shorts, you will find the flip-flops from Badgley Mischka I posted to my Instagram account last week. The shorts, sandals with a statement lace blouse make for a versatile, beautiful and easy to wear outfit fit for many occasions. Add a jacket and tights (with pumps) in the cooler weather, or grab a scarf or cardigan for the summer evenings (or too much air-conditioning)
I hope you enjoy looking through the pieces I choose and find something perfect for your closet.
~Enjoy
I spent this morning moving around plants and putting the seedlings out to harden. It is less than one week from the” frost free” time. Some of the hardier house plants were even put out and arranged on the porch.
This lead to thinking about bags for the summer. My motto, “Why carry one when you can carry two!” Seriously though, this is a great organizing tip and it helps get you out the door with everything needed. Here’s how it works. First is a tote or a larger bag. This is a catch-all, as the morning progresses, things keep getting dumped in. There are the usual suspects, phone, charger, wallet, lipstick/balm, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, gum, pen, etc. Then, things like planners, papers for appointments, iPad, the laptop, it all goes in. In addition, there is a small clutch. To save the wear and tear on my shoulder, sometimes the tote gets locked in the trunk of the car and I run into the store with just a clutch.
The totes are the workhorses of my bags. They get hit with everything. Seriously, water bottles, sometimes shoes, candy, whatever some kid hands me – it all goes in there. At the end of the week, it unceremoniously gets dumped upside down and shaken out. Not too glamorous!
This however doesn’t mean that it isn’t a nice bad. It just must be durable. One such bag, which is very reasonably priced, is my TED BAKER bag. It is actually made of PVC! It is thick and structured, but very light. It can be wiped off and there is even a small zippered pocket on the side to keep small things secure. Its big enough to carry even my laptop, but not so big that it overwhelms my frame or becomes a black-hole for the things put inside.
The one I have pictured is the print from last year. The bag is going into its second summer in perfect condition. Great even for poolside as i can withstand a splash or two. The prints are beautiful and timeless.
Enjoy one for your coming summer!
One of my favorite things to do is to explore a culture through their cuisine. This week we are getting ready for Cinco de Mayo. Preparations would be ready without a Margarita recipe. The one I’m using is from the incomparable Ina Garten https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/pink-grapefruit-margaritas-recipe-1920620 !How fun to add a little citrus in into the mix? Stay tuned as the week goes on for more recipes to make for a great and memorable party.
